I just bought these so I wanted to give this a try. It is still pretty young in character and is just starting to have some secondary characteristics. Tasty!
- 1999 Le Clos du Caillou Châteauneuf-du-Pape Reserve le Clos du Caillou - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (3/24/2008)
91+ pts; Dark purple color; This bottle had an intensely perfumed nose of spice and florals leading into a palate of cassis. The fruit had a slight prune note to it but it did not detract from the flavors. Also spices on the palate. The finish was long and expansive. This seemed still youthful and definitely improved when decanted one hour before serving. Slightly imbalanced with some heat on the finish. Stylistically a more traditional CDP. Good wine. (91 pts.)
