| 2000 Caves des Papes Gigondas Oratorio - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Gigondas (8/12/2006) WIML90,NOWA,WS90
Tasted August 12, 2006 at a retail tasting. Served in a Reidel Restaurant Magnum glass. Reddish plum color in the glass, slightly dusty looking throughout. Nose of anise, ripe berries and melted red licorice. Flavors of black cherries, blackberries and a touch of bitters. Medium acidity, tannins and body. Well balanced. Drink over the short to medium term. Based on my local retail price of $20.39 I’d say the value here is recommended. NOTE: I’ll likely pick up a couple for the cellar. | | This is a very consistent Gigondas. I've had the '98-'01 and they are all similar in style and quality. I think I paid a little less than $20 for them and I agree they are a good value. | | I can't listen to that much Wagner. I start getting the urge to conquer Poland. -- Woody Allen | |
