2003 E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône (4/15/2006) Seems like no matter the vintage, this wine is always a good dependable value and nice addition to any meal. Pleasant flavors of cherry, leather, and spice with a medium short finish. Balanced though not complex. This is one of my "benchmark" wines for determining restaurant wine list pricing and often a "go to" wine when I'm not familiar with the list. $12.99 at a local gourmet grocery store. I usually have a few splits of this on hand at the house just in case I want a glass of wine with dinner and don't want to be tempted with a 750ml.

Great with roast chicken or any bistro style food, my 1/2 case is gone and will look to but some more @ $11 here in NYC. Dependable, 87 points.

Popped one last night (the wife needed some wine for cooking). Best bottle yet. Starting to show more fruit and spice (could be bottle variation also). I like this wine with some age on it so I bought a case and have plenty left.

Opened one last night....ugh. Poured it down the drain. Hope this is just a bad bottle and my remaining case is OK. I find this wine does tend to have a lot of bottle variation.
