| - 2001 E. Guigal Gigondas - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Gigondas (4/16/2006)
WIML86, PURPLE87-88, NOWA, WS84
Tasted April 16, 2006 at home on Easter Sunday evening as part of the WinoDepot Tasting With Friends event for April 2006. Splash decanted about 45 minutes before serving in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Garnet color with a slightly brownish twinge towards the edges, clear hue throughout otherwise. Nose of black cherries, black berries, black currants, leather, mint and dried herbs. Tight on the palate giving way to a little red licorice, earth and red cherries. Good tannins, light acidity with the alcohol a little on the high side. Paid $29.99 locally at retail. Value is unacceptable at that price. (86 pts.)
