| From 1/2 bottle. Decanted 3 hours. Medium-dark ruby colour to rim. Aromas of cherry, spice box, briar, grilled meat, black licorice. Medium-full bodied with spice, garrigue, and anise. Moderate-long finish, ~40s. Still very, very young, even from 1/2 bottle. 91 points (10/01/2004). | | |

| futronic,

| No. This was released a couple years ago. What you may find on shelves would be either the 1999 or 2000. If there is any around, it's more likely to be the 1999.
The 2001 should be released over the next couple months at $85 per 750mL and $44 per 375mL. Ouch.

| | futronic - I'd swear I've had my 1/2 dozen bottles of 2001 Beacastel for a few months now at least (pre-ordered at $65 per)...though I am awaiting several magnums....I've already been DRABBING some of my 2000's - blashphemy I know - but oh so tasty! From what I've heard I doubt I'll open any of the 2001s for quite some time...the 2000s were just so fleshy and inviting... | | | |

| Winoman,
I was talking about release to the Ontario market. We're a little slow up here due to the provincially-owned liquor system.

| | LOL - futronic - sorry about the confusion...and so would that be $85 Canadian? You had me wondering I must say - I was thinking - are those really 2001s down there in my cellar? I was pretty sure that they were - but I was going to check tonight just to make sure... | | | |

| | Yes, $85CAD (~ $68USD). Although in Quebec, the wine is on sale for $70CAD (~ $56USD), so I might get someone to pick me up a few bottles there instead. | | | |

| | I would say at $56 US its a good buy. And actually - as I recall - I managed to order some of my 2001s at $45 - right on first offer (Premier Cru I think) about this time last year...don't remember exactly...(and they were only available at this price for a very short time) - I then ordered some more at the higher price...and I don't think I'll be disapointed (when I eventually get around to opening one...no time soon...) | | | |

| Unfortunately you can't get pre-arrival deals here. Well, you can order Bordeaux Futures, but that's it.
I'll probably end up buying a few bottles on release, but $70 is much more appealing than $85. If I can't get any at $70, then I'll probably pass altogether.

| WOWzer!
I arrived at my family home last weekend after driving through stormy wind and rain for 4 hours only to find an open bottle of this on the dinner table. It had probably been open about 4 hours and there was only half a glass left. I poured it into a big generic wine glass and caught the most haunting aromas as soon as the liquid hit the glass. Wow! What a nose!! I can't even begin to express what I smelt, as it was totally different to anything I had previously encountered. The palate was an intense, smooth, luxourious sensation that brimed with the most elegant devine flavours, figs, red fruits, blackcurrents, and something strange from the nose. I'd give it 5YUMS if there was such a ranking and I'm going out to buy a case right now!
Yum, yum, yum, before I knew it the glass was empty, but what a great way to forget about a terrible drive.
