Beautiful deep purple color, with a spectacular, captivating nose deep and intense with bacon fat, cinnamon, sweet cherries, game, and minerals – a wine you would be happy to simply sniff and never sip. The palate however is no less stunning, supple and hedonistic, seamless and pure, and a finish that goes on forever. 97 points.

Now this wine seemed closed to me. Amazingly brutal tannins gripped tight around a core of fruit and earth. A beast in hiding. I would love to revisit this in 12-15 years.

I sit right between the you two on this one. On one hand I thought it was very tight and(as Seek said) I would love to revist this many years down the line. On the other hand I had a glass of this sitting for most of the evening and in the end I think that Eric's notes are not far off. This was one of the wines where it really depended on when in the evening you visited it.
