| This is strange I swear I posted on this yesterday, but it's not here must have not hit the button to submit.
I have recently tried to branch out in search of diiferent wines from my normal cal cabs. When I saw this in the store for around $18 I had to try it based on the 2000 vintage and RP and WS barrel sample scores of 92-94pts. I am definitely glad I did, however it is somewhat hard to assign ratings as this is only my second Bordeaux.
I will start by saying I didn't do this wine any justice by opening it so soon and even worse not decanting or allowing it to breathe. This wine is almost black in color and gives off some very concentrated aromas of cherry, oak, and licorice. The mouth feel is full and plush with tight flavors of Cherry, vanilla and some earthy tarry notes. The finish starts off with some fruit and then wow the tannins kick in with a mouth watering and puckering finish. I have to believe that when the tannins integrate a little and the fruit comes out this will be awesome. I apologize I do not have experience as to when that should be but if I had to guess I would say either decant the heck out of it or wait 3 or 4 years. This is a great QPR and a very good bargain for cellaring a wine from this vintage. I would give it a solid 90-92pts based on my limited experience with Bordeaux and this is so different that a new world cab blend I can not compare. | | | |

| | Yes, it is young. But, don't worry about it. We are all doing that with a bottle or 2, just to experiment & see what to buy. A lot of people are taking that approach to 2000 Bdxs. | | | |

| | OJEFFSO- Thanks, zatually I think I made a mistake and remember post purchase seeing the 88 RP rating, the WS was 92-94. The guy in the store had told me he thought it was 90-92RP but must have been wrong. I don't subscribe to WA nor do I buy much Bordeaux so hadn't a clue when I made the purchase. That being said I would reiterate in my opinion it falls solidly in the middle of the 88-94 range with my 90-92. It is not a 94 pt wine to me, and based on current tastes I would say drinking now like an 88-90 pt wine based on me not decanting at all. I would not recommend anyone buying a case on my say so since I have no comparison to other Bordeaux but would advise buying a 1-4 if you see it and sharing your impressions. | | | |
