| drank with dinner tonight. opened up and splash decanted 20 minutes prior to drnking. consummed over the next two hours. being a pauillac, i assume the dominant wine is cabernet sauvignon. probably next merlot with some petit verdot, but sure. paid $30 and change. ws92-94 barrel sample.
dark purple, with moderately fast moving legs. expressive nose dominated by lead pencil with some berries and mineral. medium to full bodied with flavors of currant, tobacco and some chocolate on the finish. fruit extraction and structure are not what i was expecting. tannins were very dominant at the beginning, but subsided a little after time. still not enough fruit to stand up against the tannins. i was expecting a more powerful wine. still a very good effort that should be ready in a few years. at this price there are are better options. me88 | | | |
