this is a repost of an earlier thread. now in the correct area.

this is the second of the less expensive 2000's that i have tasted. parker calls this the best generic bordeaux producer. barrel sample rp90-91. cost me $21. dark purple, medium to full body. excellent nose, chunky, fruity, very tannic, good finish. solid 90 pointer. i think there are going to be alot of excellent values in 2000 bordeaux.

Glad to hear you thought it was good. I bought 1/2 a case of this and am anxiously awaiting it.

Finally pulled the cork on this wine. After 3 hrs, it was tough as nails. So tannic, I found it undrinkable (and that's saying a lot coming from me). After an additional 3 hours, the wine smoothed out showing ripe currants, tobacco, game and truffle notes. This sucker made my tongue black when I brushed my teeth before bed. This is the best Superior I have ever had, not that I've had a ton of them. Put this one away until 2007 and be glad you have some. jb rating 89+. I paid $18 QPR A.

jb -

You and I were right on with our views on this bottle. I simply couldn't find 90 points here. Nice bottle that will be a lot more fun to have in 5+ years.

i opened one on saturday at 5 pm. i tasted at around 9 pm and there was nothing going on. lock up as tight as a al quaida prisoner in cuba. i put it back into the cellar and left it there until around 5 pm today. i am here to say that it has still not opened up. much swirling reveals a little action but nothing as of yet. every now and then when i do get something it is very good. i can see this being a 91-92 pt wine i just don't get rp's drink now and over the next 8-10 years. i would say not to open one for at least 3-5 yrs. which really sucks because i bought them hoping they would be drinking now.

i know budman but i was just wondering how it would taste because the bdx guru said it was drink now. from everyone's notes so far i don't how he gat a drink now and over the next 10-12 yrs or maybe i completely misread his notes . believe me most if not all of my 00 bdx is tightly nailed away.

anthonyiez, which guru are you talking about? I think you were talking about the wrong guru....

Our resident bordeaux guru ojeffso said to wait at least three years.... what were you thinking?!

Hehehehe. I of course have my reignac. I'll open one soon so I can watch how it develops over the years... that's the fun part for me with this hobby. Witnessing my wines develop!

I finally opened my first bottle of the case to try. Not as tannic as others have said, but was very very ripe. I look forward to seeing this develop... so far I doubt it has developed much. No sediment in the slightest yet either.. though I wasn't expecting any.

Then could you give us an idea sooner than "the next couple months" ?
