| drank for dinner tonight. will finish the bottle tomorrow. opened 2 1/2 hours prior to drinking. splash decanted. primarily merlot with cabernet franc. paid $19.79
dark inky opaque purple, slow moving legs. excellent nose of casis, mineral and smoke. medium to full bodied with excellent concentration of chunky black fruit and coffee on the long finish. this wine is a mouthfull. good structure and balance. a tad high on the acidity, but still ok. very sweet silky tannins. rp89-91+, me90+

| | Interesting... I'm tempted to pick one up myself now so I can compare it with the Faugeres. | | If you drink wine, you get smarter.... | |

| Thanks for pointing out this thread. Sorry, I did a search but maybe was misspelling or something.
You guys made me check my notes again on this wine. The result is that you can feel vindicated as I misread my poor writing. The score and notes were better. I will correct.

| 2000 Château Grand Corbin-Despagne - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (11/28/2007) WIML90+
Tasted November 28, 2007. Opened and splash decanted about 30 minutes before serving. Big mistake. Blowing sediment already so be sure and decant for sediment next time. Purple to dark purple color in the glass, fairly clear hue throughout. Nose of rich black cherries, black berries, a hint of briar patch and some light, pleasant and "youthful" aromatics hiding in there as well. Flavors of black cherries, black berries and a little bit of bitters on the finish. Bright acidity, medium to firm tannins, full bodied. Still a little tight on the palate so I recommend holding. I was going to drink my next bottle in 2008 but I'm extending the window on my five remaining bottles by one year each. I will try again in 2009.
