drank this tonight. opened up 15 minutes prior to drnking. splash decanted. drank over the next two hours. i saved some for tomorrow night. merlot and cab franc. paid $16.19 dark purple, but not like the ones from last night. not much in the way of legs. pleasant nose of black currant and toasty oak. medium to full bodied, flavors of plums, casis and espresso. after about an hour and a half this wine opened quite nicely. not real big, but very nice balance and very elegant. sweet tannins and a very good finish. this wine grew on me and added a few points along the way. this will be an early drinking 2000 and probably will develop for about 10-12 years. rp90-91, me 89 on the second night, the mineral is coming thru loud and clear. tannins have gotten sweeter. now an 89+

I bought a sixpack of this maker from 1998. Amazing QPR for $15. I tried to get futures of the 2000, but everyone sold out right away on the premier tranche (spelling?). I wasn't willing to gamble on the second price of $25 each. FWIW my wife and I saw the chateau in St Emilion this summer. Not at all what I expected! I expected this to be made in somebodies garage (perhaps a too literal term for garagiste), but it was actually quite a nice, (if not a little aged) big, classic chateau.

this wine should be found for under $20 and is a buy.
