1989 Chateau Beychevelle St.-Julien -- still quite dark although clearly bricking around edges; nice nose of currants, cedar; soft and fleshy in the mouth, with currant, tobacco, blueberry, and hint of minerals; medium-to-long finish, with fine tannins noticeable but manageable. Very good, but I had somewhat higher expectations. This opened up a bit over 1 hour, but seems to be within its drinking window now. App. 90-1 pts.
