Chateau Montrose 1988 (RP:83)
Very demure bouquet, slightly smoky red meat, mild plum. Nice garnet color with edges showing little indication of the wine's age. Light bodied and initially tannic with an impressive finish. After some breathing time the wine settled down and seemed a bit diluted. Not much fruit or flavor but more of a finish than was implied in RP's 1992 tasting. He gave the wine an 83. I'd say it's now 86-87 at best, but better than its last published WA review, but not by much.
