The dark garnet wine had a beautiful cigar box nose and also smelled of blackberries with overtones of prunes. On the palate, the wine is powerful with flavors of coffee and dark chocolate. The wine is balanced, mature, and delicious. 92

Thank you for the note Board-O, I have been back and forth as to whether or not to pursue this wine for my 40th, it generally sells at auction in the $130 to $160 range, I just might bite now for the right bottle.

Well, young feller, if you're going to be drinking the wine in 2006, I'd go after the Latour rather than the Haut Brion. The Latour has seemed the most ageworthy of the ones I've had from that vintage, many of them multiple times- Lafite, Latour, Haut Brion, Petrus. Oh, yeah- I did get to smell the Mouton...TWICE!
