| Purchased at auction $95. Base neck fill, worst condition out of a lot of 5. Cork saturated to just before the end, pretty soft, but came out whole. Medium red with slight bricking at the rim. Maturish Bordeaux nose showing cigar box, deep red fruits, a touch of tar, and green olive, though the olive mostly blows off with an hour of air. Medium red fruits and a cedar palate on a medium body with a medium finish. A somewhat simple wine that delivers typical Bordeaux pleasures. Decent acidic backbone and still showing some tannins, this is probably just a few years short of fully mature. RP rated this a 94 so either this is an off bottle, he's off, or it's just not ready yet. Recently traveled from the Winebid warehouse to my home, so maybe a bit 'shook up', 90 points. | | |

| latour67 has shipped a bottle of this to Bressler for the Aug 6th dinner, but it had been in latour's cellar since release. I'm hoping his bottle lives up to Parker's rating. | | | |

| I had one 5 months ago (also purchased from Winebid about a year ago) and it was every bit the Parker rating. | | | |

| We had this wine with dinner at The Jacksonville Inn with latour67.
It had a wonderful Bordeaux nose which promised more than the wine delivered. This seemed to be a tired bottle, though not bad at all, just disappointing for a Pichon-Lalande. 87 | | | |

| Had about a week ago out at dinner, my last bottle from a Winebid lot and by far the best. Fill well into the neck. Stunning Bordeaux that I would rate 94-95 with plenty of time left. Yummy from the right bottle. | | | |

| Yummy from the right bottle or yummy right from the bottle? Glad you enjoyed as I have nothing of this caliber (French anyway) in my cellar. | | | |

| Dark garnet colour. Aromas of tobacco, herbs, raspberry, cassis, animal, lead pencil, old saddle leather, cedar box/cigar box. Full-bodied with cassis and briar notes; rich wine. Long finish with tobacco notes. 93 points (06/19/2004). | | | |

| We had this again tonight with roast prime rib. It had a rich nose of dark fruit and cigar box with maybe a hint of cloves. On the palate, this wine was a winner, rich, concentrated, and balanced with moderate tannins. Flavors of dried fruit and plums were delicious. It may still be improving. This certainly has the backbone to last for years. I'd never figure this to be a 21 year old wine. Me 94. My wife 93. | | | |

| Tasted at the Left Bank Bordeaux tasting at the home of FreeTheGrapes 1/19/2005.
I do not have any notes on how long this was decanted, but I would doubt it was very long. This wine is available as low as $125 on wine searcher.
My favorite wine of the flight, this wine did double duty as my WOTN. Dark fruits, tobacco and leather on the nose, this concentrated, full bodied wine had a finish that I swear I can still taste today. I would guess that this wine is at its peak, but I will defer somewhat to Board_O. That does not mean I would cellar any if I had them, I would try to repeat the experience as many times as necessary to finish every bottle soon.

| This wine is at peak (at least my bottle was). Dark ruby, no bricking or very slight (had to work to see it). Nose, ah the nose of stewed cherries, currants, and prunes that were very sweet and almost perfume like...classic aged claret. Seamless palate of complex fruit with total oak and tannin integration. Very low acid, so smooth. I also experienced the finish lingering long after I put the glass down (which was very difficult to do). I did not pick up leather or cedar or lead pencil on the nose, but rather a mélange of fruits that could have had some spices mixed in. This was so well integrated, it was hard to delineate specific flavors (as one can in younger wines). Based on this bottle, drink up over next 2 years. | | | |

| Had this a few months ago. Its a very good wine... but a steep step down from the 82 Pichon-lalande. Drink up now, before it is too late. | | | |

| Good luck with that 1978, Stealth. I'm guessing it might be a little tired. | | | |
