Purple, powerful nose of black fruits, earth, leather, light band aids (though not to the displeasing point, actually positive addition).  Full body, high complexity, moderate acidity and high tannins.  A brute, but a graceful one, with leather, dry earth, band aids, currants, blackberry and cassis. 96pts.

Lots of discussion on the brett issue with this wine. Looks like you had a good one.

Band aids? You like that in your wine? Did it have an owwie or a booboo?

Jason when do you think this wine will be at its peak?

Shannon,

This was my bottle that I brought to this event, and I was thankful that it was a cleaner example. It was given to me by a doctor in town who had a full case of it. I selected and served wines for a birthday of his and he gave me a bottle as a thanks. The bottle that was opened at his event showed a high degree of brett. Of course being a 100pt RP wine, it was drank up pretty quick with everyone oohing and aahing over it. Glad my bottle wasn't like that one.

James,

This wine is drinking relatively well right now. It has a long trajectory ahead of it though. I would say peak in another 8-10 and sustain that for another10+ after that.

A relative has a case of this wine as well and opened one for a group of us this last summer. No (noticible) Brett...but still very tight...was quite rich and tasty - but best days are still well to the future I'd say. And certainly drank much much better then the 82 Muton he had opened just prior!
