  • 2000 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (7/11/2007)
Consumed out of a 375ml bottle - I popped the cork and let it aerate for about 2 hours (without decanting). Very forward aromas of dark fruits, currants, coffee and cassis. On the palate, quite generous with accents of tobacco along with the other flavors in the aroma. Quite silky and accessible right now, and ultimately an exceptional Bordeaux in the making. (93 pts.)

Sounds promising. I have my first bottle scheduled for 2011. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the note.

Joe, I was surprised at how forward this wine was. Much more accessible than a 1996 Lynch Bages I had about a month ago. I wonder if some of these 2000s will come around before their 1996 counterparts? I don't drink enough Bordeaux to know for sure, but I guess we'll find out over the next 5-10 years.
