During some cellar reorg a couple months ago I came across my stash of this wine and figured it was about time to check in on a "lesser" wine from the vintage and take a reading on how things are progressing. If this is any example, things are progressing quite nicely indeed!
Color is a beautiful clear dark crimson, no fading or brinking whatsoever (not suprisingly) . The nose if immediately effusive and delightful, offering aromas of sweet cassis, cherries, and minerals. Great acidity on the palate, with plenty of sweet fruit, the wine is broad and textured, and tannins are fine, well integrated, and in no way dominate the wine. I fell this wine has entered its drinking window, but there is also no rush - it clearly has several more years ahead of it.
Heck of a wine for the $13 I paid!
