An interesting choice for a restaurant wine list. We visited this Chateau in 2002. After tasting through a few vintages of this wine it was apparent that the 1998 and 2000 were good vintages while the 1999 somewhat less so. Purchased from a restaurant. We were pleased with how smooth and complex the wine was. More finesse than a blockbuster.
1999 Vieux Château Certan
- France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol (4/7/2007)
Dark ruby in color; Somewhat shy on the nose to start but opened up in the decanter. Its flavors included raspberries, a hint of blackberries and vanilla. The finish was interesting with minerals and lavender florals. It had good balance with well-integrated tannins. It was probably just starting to acquire secondary characteristics. I'm not sure it has the overall structure for much further improvement but was a great restaurant purchase. [Drinking very well now; more than likely an earlier maturing vintage of this wine]

Winetex.
I've only had a couple of VCCs, but I've enjoyed them tremendously. Thanks for the note.

Me too. Had just a few, even a bad vintage; very nice house.
