The 1988 Lagrange was a delicious bottle of St. Julien. It had aromas and flavors of light cedar, lead pencil and dark plummy fruit. The tannins have softened and are still noticable but in the background. This wine is in the sweetspot that I enjoy with Bordeaux, that being in the transition stage between primary fruit and secondary nuance development. 92 points.

I have been digging into my stash of 1988's lately and they are starting to show very well now. LLC did not excite me too much a couple of years ago, so maybe it is time for a revisit. I am holding off on my few Firsts and Rausan Segla for now though.
