1988 Chateau L'Evangile. Pomerol, Bordeaux, France. 12.5% alcohol. $150.
Medium to dark black cherry red turning just clear at the rim. A very concentrated bouquet of cedar, cherry, and sweet leather. Big and a bit rustic in the mouth but quite a mouthful regardless. I don't think further aging will tame the rusticity. Drink now to 2012. 91 points.
