I had the opportunity to have a couple glasses of this monter 1st growth and boy is this going to be one of the longest lived wines of my generation. While the cassis laden fruit and massive mouth coating wine was a true testament to what a 1st growth can accomplish, the wines tannins are bone dry and in need of 5-10 years of more bottle age.

If you must drink this now, give it 4-5 hours in the decanter. The most remarkable thing about this wine is the plethora of dark fruits, cassis and oak are all in massive quantities it just makes you realize the true history behind this famous estate and what they can produce. I would rate this 94pts and it will become a 96+ pt wine down the road. Drinking Latour always puts a big smile on my face (considering it has only happened a few times in my life)
