Decanted about an hour. Elegant nose of smoke and oak. Beautiful purple color. A little tight, but a wonderful underlying dark fruit core, well-balanced with tannins. Even tempering my love of the LB, this is one beautiful wine. Tonight's taste whet my appetite for what this wine will be in 5-15 years.

Drank with a few non-wino friends, one of whom had their first "now I get it" moment.

Very tempting very very tempting. Have you delved into other 00's lately? If yes how have they been? Not closed up like some other's have been saying.

It's the first classified growth that I've had from the 2000s. I'll still generally hang onto them for several more years before giving them a whirl. Some of the Cru Bourgeois, like Ch. d'Agassac are drinking very nicely right now, though.

This was a drink of opportunity--it was on a winelist at a very reasonable price (well less that 100% over retail), so I grabbed!
