| As a treat last night, we opened a bottle of 1982. A friend had told me that most of the St. Juliens were accessible now. Certainly the nose was ripe, fruity, slightly cedary, perfumy and very Bordeaux-like (actually the sweet fruit of St. Julien). On the palate all was in balance and delicious. The tannins were smooth, the fruit ripe. The only fault in the wine was a fairly sharp acidic aftertaste. I imagine more age is required and that the wine is not totally mature. At 21, it has yet to totally show all of its potential. I give in a low 90s rating. It will go higher in 3-5 years. A great buy for $6.50 as a future way back then when Reagan was President. | | |

| Ahhh if only I could have bought this at that time, too. Then again, in 1982, I was 15! | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com | |
