My father has had this in his cellar for years, and we decided to open it this weekend. I was hopeful that it was drinking well and in good order. While this wine is clearly past its prime it is always a treat to drink anything from the '82 vintage. It showed violets, vanilla, and a unique flowery component on the smell that clearly was glad it had escaped 22 years after being in the bottle. The palate was fading so I decided to vacu-vin it and come back to it the next day. The second day the palate delivered a more focused cherry taste and a touch of earth. I would give the nose 87pts and the palate 85pts.
