The 1999 La Clusiere was my first wine from this chateau. I must say I would have never pegged this as anything but a California Meritage blend. Nonetheless, for pure debauchery, it is really well made. Lush and powerful with lots of extract, if a tad closed up. We didn't decant it and I think it might have revealed more complexity if we had. This was probably the best match with my Short Ribs as the dark chocolate, mocha tones in the wine were enhanced by the carmelization on the outside of the meat. Delicious!
