Cotes de Castillon

Purchased for $12 or so from Wine Library. 13% alcohol.

I bought this wine knowing that Gerard Perse is one of the property owners of this estate (I'm a Perse fan).

The wine has a fairly normal deep purple hue. On the nose, slightly herbal with cherry stems and wood. After about 30 minutes of airtime, the palate demonstrates red fruits (cherry and light raspberry) and earth with drying tannins on the finish.

This is a food wine and frankly needs it!

I'd recommend this wine if you're looking for a soft, almost pop n pour Bordeaux blend under $15/bottle. Generally speaking, when I'm targeting bottles under $15 or so I look for fruit forward wines from CdP and Spain.
