Had this at the VC Rocks at Equinox Event on 3/29/03. This was served with the lamb course I believe.
This was a nice light-medium-dark, if you understand me. But this wine was pretty funky. I got the senses of tobacco, tar, moss and maybe even a little 'poo' (barnyard, brett, whatever). It was perhaps my least favorite of the night. The finish was longer than I expected. I think mfor many attendees, this was the first wine that they did not completely finish (ie it made it to the dump bucket). | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com

| | Not so sure it was bad. Backwards must be it. I guess I have now experienced my first backwards wine. | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com | |

| TJ,
Did Latour67 bring this bottle? I think it is the '96 that he has several cases of, and he kicks himself every time he goes into his cellar and sees these. He gave me a bottle and told me to be careful not to get splinters in my tongue when drinking it . | | Cheers, y'all

| Actually no, latour67 brought the 97 Ferrari-Carano Tresor. I believe a guy who is over on the WS boards, Thoth, brought it. Like ojeffso said, this is likely just a bad bottle. Happens to the best of them it seems.

Tasted August 17, 2007 at a SWILL offline. Opened and served immediately. Light garnet to garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of thistle, florals and mixed fruits. Flavors of black berries, cherries and plum. Medium acidity, tannins and body. Drink with a short decant or hold. | - 1996 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (1/5/2008)
Opened and consumed without decanting over the course of 4 hours - the 96 GPL has dark fruit flavors with notes of cassis, cedar, mineral (iron) and earth with a firm tannic spine. Full bodied with a juicy mid-palate with a medium length finish with lingering dark berry flavors. Balanced, and while young, enjoyable. (90 pts.) Posted from CellarTracker
