The color was a deep purple with no hint of brown. The wine possessed a beautiful, fragrant nose of berries and plums. It's an elegant, mature Bordeaux, with a an ideal balance of fruit, tannin, and acidity- a wine at its prime. 92 points.

Just a comparison for those of you who attended the June 15th dinner last year. The '79 was a richer, fruitier wine while this was of a different style- far more austere and elegant. I preferred the '79 from Imperial.

Hi Board-O,
I have a magnum of the '81 that's been stored at a temp. of 50-52 degrees since l985. I'm hoping to keep it for a few more years. What do you think? The wine fill is still well up in the neck.

I have no doubt it'll be fine. I bought mine upon release and it stayed in my cellar the whole time, but at slightly warmer temperature than yours. My cellar stays at about 51 or 52 in Winter and gradually moves up to ablout 57 during the Summer. Yours being a magnum with a good fill should be fine for a few more years or more.
