1995 Chateau Faizeau (Montagne St.-Emilion) Selection Vielles Vignes -- still dark, little bricking; great nose of sweet, jammy plum and fennel; lots of good plum, fig, blackberry, licorice flavours; no gaps in palate; medium-bodied, fairly silky; medium length finish. On the nose I'd give it about 92 pts. but on the palate and finish it doesn't hit the same high notes, more like 88-9 pts. Still, this is about a 90 pt. wine by almost any standards, and a heck of a bargain if you bought it back in 1997 (C$28).
