Clearly the most evolved wine of the flight with a medium ruby hue, notable bricking and a mature nose, the ’66 LLC still provided the most enjoyment for drinking today than any of the three in this flight, as was the consensus of the table in general. Showing a boisterous nose that seems a tad acidic, the wine displays notes of ripe sweet raspberries (almost candied), earth, and with a little time in the glass a tremendous impression of green olives. On the palate the wine is tremendously smooth and plush, tannins are completely resolved leaving just a wonderful wine that is a delight to drink. While I believe this is on a downward trend, it is nonetheless a delight to drink. 88 points, drink now. | | | 2008: the end of an error |
