Utterly seductive, the 1975 Cheval Blanc starts out with what I consider a classic Bordeaux nose, perfumed with pencil lead, earth, and berries. Amazing depth and complexity, the nose just expanded as the wine opened up in the glass to reveal strawberries, cherries, mocha, and cedar. On the palate however is where this gem truly shined, with a texture that was velvety, rich, completely integrated and balanced. Very fine tannins, with amazing depth of pure fruit, the wine glides across the palate effortlessly. The finish goes on forever, my – and the groups – WOTN! 97 Points, drink now. | | | 2008: the end of an error |
