Tasted at the
1990 Bordeaux Dinner, 12/15/04:
WOW, what an amazing nose! Right out of the chute the wine delivers a kaleidoscope of wondrous aromas that dance in your nose and demand your attention with ripe black fruits, graphite, minerals, coffee, and earth. Interestingly, after a few moments in the glass the aromatics began to shut down again – they were still all there, just with a surprising drop in intensity. In the mouth the wine supports it’s tremendous fruit with equally impressive structure and outstanding balance. Firm, yet sweet tannins are well integrated, and the wine is broad and lush with a long finish. Certain to improve with age, I wouldn’t touch this for another 7-8 years. 96+.
