This Chateau has all of it's winemaking under control of the well know Michael Rolland and is owned by Mrs Garcin-Cathiard, who also owns Clos l'Eglise, Chateau Haut-Bergey, and Chateau Branon. Consistency and good quality seem to be at hand with this fine St. Emilion label.

Dark ruby in color the 1998 Barde Haut is nicely displaying a sweet nose of blackberry, plum, and integrated oak. Bright and forward flavors of blackberry & raspberry precede a generous, but tight mouthfeel. Tannins are persistent on the moderately lengthy finish with pleasant oak treatment becoming evident.
