| Deep garnet color. Rich, ripe nose of plum, tobacco, cherry liqueur and underbrush. Perhaps a faint whiff of alcohol peeking through. Round, low-acid, ripe and concentrated in the mouth this wine is clearly cut from the cloth of modern Bordeaux winemaking. I don't know the cepage but suspect this wine has significant Merlot. The midsection is full of fruit and the finish has some structure. Yet, the wine, while showy, is not overdone and this is the part I like. This is a lot of wine for the $16 it costs locally.
Note: The liner notes I received with this wine state that it is made by Jean-Luc Thunevin of Chateau Valandraud and it is produced with a biodynamic technique. | | | |
