| Name: Ch. Reignac Region: Bordeaux Vintage: 2000 Color: Dark purple, headed towards black Nose: Smooth fruit, very clean Palette: A bit tight on first tasting, but after an hour opened beautifully. Wonderfully structured plum and cassis with just enough oak character and mineral quality. Cool, lingering finish. Other comments: Another "what wine should taste like" wine, if a bit more understated than many Bordeaux. This wine is that beautiful girl in high school who is obviously still young but more worldly than her peers, special yet still approachable. Closing my eyes on the finish, I could feel myself on the gravelly hillside overlooking the Gironde from which the grapes where picked. Quality drinking now, but will also age well.

| As I recall there are TWO 2000 Reignacs. Which one is this? I went to an all-male high school. I don't get your tasting note. | | | |

| I finally popped another one so I'm down to 26 now and I must admit I have buyers remorse...I should have bought another 20 grand worth of 2000 Bordeaux... Here's my prediction and while I may be a little late as a certain someone with the initials RP may have beat me to it, but you can take this to the bank , this is the next Sociando Mallet so stock up while you can buy it by the pallet load at Costco. Lots of blueberries, I mean lots, this is lush, round, and balanced, a full bodied beauty that pumps out fruit, coates your palate, and keeps going for the distance. A very impressive bottle of wine that while still 5+ years away from coming into maturity, showed excellently and was entirely enjoyable not only with food, but on its little ole lonesome. I can seriously see this being very similar to the '90 Sociando when it gets its legs. Delish. 93+ | | | |

| TJ, the 2001 is readily available now and is well rated though drinks pretty austere now, I only know where there is one bottle of the 2000 left and the price has been jacked up over $30, still worth it, but that's 50% more than I was paying originally. Wth 3 left I'd hang on to them for 3 to 5 more. | | | |

Total Wine Bozos? Seriously? Their 'Corridor Fine Wine' is just up the way from me. Might go see if they have some. Wait. I have no storage space. None. Nada. Must resist urge to buy wine. | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com

| $19.00, Retail.
Decanted 2+ hours, tasted over 3 hours. And, this wine still need more cellaring time...
My experience is similar to the above posts. This is a great bottle for the money. Deep dark red, almost inky black color. Sweet cherries & sweet smooth tannins, smoky.
But, even with 3+ hours, I would give this more time. Nevertheless, a very nice bottle of wine. And, under $20.00, highway robbery. I can see all of Parker's 92 points.
Rating: 91+ to 92+ & a big hold. My next bottle is probably 2008.

Thanks for the update, LCC. I've got 3 of these sitting way in the back of my overflow closet. Maybe they'll age faster there. | | | www.roguefood.com -- www.cellartracker.com

| Popped one last night. Man, what an excellent wine. Very sweet fruit, strong charcoal character that accentuates rather than overwhelms the fruit. Half a bottle that will be finished today. This wine is coming around for business; this bottle was not showing as shut down in any way. This is in the mold of a Bordeaux made by Foley | | | |

| Eric has written an infromative note on Cellartracker BBS: Quote:
The folks at Château de Reignac make three primary wines:
1. Reignac: This is the premier or “first” wine, and it is also the ONLY Reignac wine that Robert Parker has reviewed the past few years. It comes in a tall, somewhat skinny bottle. In recent vintages it has a tan label. In some export markets in past vintages it has been referred to as “Cuvée Speciale”, although generally this has ceased. The retail on this runs anywhere from $15-$40 with the 2000 vintage getting a lot of price bumps after the very positive Parker reviews. 2. Reignac Blanc: This is a white blend, their only white wine. 3. Château de Reignac: Confusingly, this wine is the “second” wine, typically with a white label, in a normal shaped Bordeaux bottle. The retail on this is typically in the $10-12 range. A LOT of retailers will sell you this and accidentally quote the Parker score for 'Reignac.'
In general, many, many, MANY people confuse Reignac and Château de Reignac.

| Anyone try the '03? Seems to be hitting U.S. retail. Might pick one up and give it a whirl. Nice Parker and Tanzer notes for its price category. | | | |
