| I posted not long ago wondering whether I just didn't "get" mature bordeaux. Well, this wine was a true "light bulb wine". I didn't take notes, and I'm sure they wouldn't do this wine justice even if I had. What I can say is this wine was fantastic. Immediately upon opening there was a wonderful smell of cedar and cigarbox. I was a bit afraid going in that the wine would be completely dominated by cedar and barnyard notes, but that was absolutely not the case. The wine was very well balanced. There was a hint of barnyard, but also plenty of fruit. Plenty of tanin left in there, but lots of fruit to match. I think this wine has a lot of life ahead of it, but it is drinking beautifully now. It was consumed over the course of about two hours, and continued improving throughout that time. Wonderful nose, full midpalate, and a great lingering finish. A fantastic wine thoughout
I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to try another of these, but I do know that it has inspired me to invest in better storage, and to try to have plenty of patience.

| From the notes I've read on this wine, I suspect we had an off-bottle. It had a somewhat muted notes of cedar and dark fruit. On the palate, the wine had little tannin remaining. There were plenty of plum and blck cherry flavors, but the wine had softened a bit more than ideal. It was fine, but likely in decline. It was nicely complex, but a little too soft. 89 | | | |

| When I had this as part of a L-B vertical, it was an excellent wine, but it tasted the least like L-B. Loved it , and I can still remember the aroma! See Here: Notes | | | |

| The cork was fully saturated but the level was very good. Maybe enough air got in to prematurely age the wine. | | |

| I don't have much experience with older Bordeaux, but I suspect you had a damaged bottle. Your note just doesn't sound like the same wine. Hopefully you've got more, the bottle I had was easily my most memorable wine of the year. | | | |

| I agree, the times I've tried the '82 in a Lynch-Bages vertical, it has always come across as being the odd-ball. For my tastes, however, it seems simplistic and low in acidity, tasting not unlike the typical aged CA cabernet. I consider the '85, '89, and '90 to be several notches higher in quality...

I was wrong. I only have one left and I'm going to decant it in a few minutes. After the last bottle, I didn't want to wait much longer.

| I had this wine about 6 months ago before I became a member at VinoCellar. I think my expecations were to high on this wine. Probably because of the hype around the 82 vintage. My notes say the following: decantured for 5 hours; not much on the nose, infact very litlle fruit and very flat aromatically. On the palate, I could taste some fruit, but overall, it followed my nose. Infact, midway through dinner, I opened a 94 Caymus Special Selection. I thought there was something wrong with me when I had this wine; I thought I was missing something. | | | |

| We had this wine tonight. Fortunately, our previous bottle was likely just an off bottle, because this one was singing.
It had a beautiful nose of cigar box and wet earth. On the palate, the wine was packed with flavors of dark fruit and balanced by copious integrated tannins. This was far, far better than the previous bottle. Stunning and just approaching its prime. 95

Your physical (wine) cellar in the same location or in your collection?
I'm worried about the fact that we'll likely move a few times over the next 20 years and at what risks that might put my collectibles. | | | Visit The Butcher Block at http://www.butcherblocktampa.com/
