| Tasted w/ Tbird & mrs., Revlis and Board-O at Triomphe in NYC. Thank you to Frued for setting us up w/ a no corkage reservation. Wine was splash decanted by Board-O at home, returned to the bottle and corked. Then consumed about 4 hours later. Wine Tasted from Riedel Vinum Bordeaux stems.
Wine was inky black/blue in color. Aromatically reserved w/ blackberry notes, this wine is somewhat closed still. Full bodied and still very tannic. Nice blueberry, cedar and some plum. I would suggest laying this down for another 5-10 yrs. jb Rating 88
This wine was slightly disappointing considering the apparent early drinkability of Haut Brion and the WS rating of 98. I don't see it now, but maybe more time is necessary. Thank you Board-O for the experience. Always educational to tast a 1st Growth w/ 14 yrs on it.

| | jb-parker has always felt the wine spectator and others over rated the 88 bordeaux vintage. many of the wines i have tasted tended to be tannic and lacking in ripe fruit. | | | |
