| This is my first post on this site, and I must say that in reviewing the overall sit, it is quite terrific. I notice there are many familiar signatures from other sites, and the information and comments are tame and quite informative. Keep it up!
For my maiden voyage, I am glad to report that this week I shared a bottle of a wine that I have cellared in quantity since it first arrived on the Left Coast...1970 Chateau Lafleur. Having read much about this highly-regarded Pomerol (its longevity, its lack of appeal when young, etc.) I have had two bottles previously and they were closed-in and unforgiving. But this week, the wine has finally blossomed...that's right! after 33 years.
On the nose both an aroma of deep fruit and a bouquet of camphor, of spice, very heady, intellectual and complex. The color of the 1970 Pomerols was legendary and this wine does not disappoint. My tasting mate thought this to be a mid-80s wine because of the color, and was pleasantly surprised when its identity was revealed. On the palate the wine was deep, lush, slightly tannic, full and rich with a lingering,, delicious aftertaste. This is a 98-99 point wine. It may not get much better than this is Bordeaux, if you are not drinking a First Growth. | | |

| | Very nice post and welcome to vinocellar.com. This seems to have really left an impression with you. So is this the 3rd bottle of a case leaving you with 9 remaining I hope? | | | |

| | Only four bottles left. I sold off some of the original case. Believe it or not, the wine was extremely expensive for a 1970 Bordeaux...$8.60 a bottle. | | | |

| Welcome to VinoCellar, nun. I'm a pretty reasonable man. What do ya say, I'll give ya $17.20 for a bottle of the wine. That's twice what you paid. Oh, what the heck! Let's say $18.
Sounds like your patience was rewarded.
