| 1999 Chateau Barde-Haut. St. Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux, France. 13.5% alcohol. $27.
Medium Black cherry red color with lots of thin slightly pigmented legs. A big “California” style nose of plum, mint, smoke, and cassis. A plush mouthful of smoky red berry fruits leads to a fairly short finish with moderate tannins and acidity. This wine is drinking quite well at present. A value. 88 points. Recommended. Drink now to 2007 (can last longer but I would not let it rest past 2007 in order to catch the fruit in the wine’s ascendancy).
