| $18. My first VinoCellar.com tasting note. Thanks for having me! Medium red with a tinge of purple. Upon opening, soaring nose that just retains enough Bordeaux character to not be confused with Cal Cab. Initially sweet black cherries, currants, violets, black pepper and a small amount of vanilla eminate from a black earth and tobacco core. With two hours in the decanter the earth tones become more prominent, pushing the fruit to a more supportive role. In the mouth it did somewhat of a reversal over time as well. First tastes saw a barely medium body showing redder fruits, a hint of earthiness, nice balance and prickly pear tannins that show from the time the wine hits your tongue till well into the rather distinguished finish. Displaying more elegance than power by a good margin, this wine is very disimmilar to the other good '00s I've had, namely the Haut-Bergey and the Reignac. With time it puts on a little more weight on the palate, but still does not show the dense fruit and body of the previous wines. This feels like a wine that will evolve reasonably quickly, more on par with some of the nice (meaning good but not great) '99s we've had. I would give it 5 years to try again as just some minor (ok, maybe a bit more than minor) tannin resolution might make this quite the nice little quaffer. At this point I would give it a range of 87 to 90 points. | | |

| Stealthman, I am glad to see your notes. I purchased a case of this wine with my futures anticipating it would be a good QPR I could drink over the short to near term while the bigger wines matured in the cellar.
Thanks. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |

| By the time I emptied the decanter, some 6 hours after opening, this was pushing the high end of my range. The wine showed a lot of motion over the course of the night. At one point with about 5 hours on it, it was mature Gruaud on the nose, lasted for about 20 minutes. I'm going to go pick up a few more right now. | | | |

| | Thanks for the notes. It sounds like this is a good buy for the price. I bought 6 of these on futures from Sam's but they haven't arrived yet. I can't wait for all these 00's to start rolling in. | | | |

| | My first revisit in a year and a half. I ended up buying two cases of this and it is still available at a lot of local retail. Interesting to read my first note as this wine is now red/black and nearly opaque. It opened with traditional Bordeaux aromatics though was much more restrained in the tannin department than last time (don't take me wrong though, resolved is not a part of this equation). This wine wants to come out, it's in the nose, very fruity at times with pleasently ripe, black fruits overflowing the glass, at other moments though it seems to close right up and offer nothing but sea salt, green pepper, and sour cherry. Medium plus bodied with a long finish, it was reasonable pleasurable with a big steak, but now with 4 hours of air it's gotten a bit austere. Will save the rest for tomorrow night, but I think this is closer to a 90 point wine than an 87. Wonder if this will be ready by 2010? | | | |

| | I had a bottle last weekend and I think my experience jives with yours Stealth. I'd be interested in seeing your comments on the second day. Mine didn't last that long. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |

| Forgot about it on day 2...Day 3, three ounces that sat on the counter stoppered in a 375ml bottle. Ripe, almost candied black cherry, mild oak in the nose. Black fruit and tannin on a nearly full bodied palate. No reason this shouldn't be a great <$20 Bord in a few years. | | | |
