Tasted at the Vitis Vinifera and jonnlisa dinner in Denver on Sunday, December 28, 2003.

Tasted double blind by all tasters, except for Free The Grapes and his wife, Jessica.

Once again, FTG decides to throw in a ringer. At least this time, it was not from Mexico or Tasmania.

Caramel apple nose, with some cherry also noted. Cherry is predominant on the palate, with some cinnamon on the finish from some toasty oak. A little bit weak in the midpalate. Light to medium bodied, with noticeable acids, and a nice finish that seemed to get a little darker. A blend of 50% merlot, 25% cabernet franc, and 25% cabernet sauvignon. I gave this one 83 points and a drink now, but others enjoyed it more.

This is a perfect example of what I siad many times on the WS site. North America's dry wines, other than those from CA, OR, and WA, are largely disappointing. Here's a reserve meritage getting 83 points. Most of the best Canadian and NY wines I've tried (the best, that is) are low to mid 80 point wines. Some choose to respond to this as a nationalistic affront, which it most definitly is not.

Oops, did I say 83? I meant 93.

I trust your palate a lot more than that!
