Notes from the Dec. 2003 BAWE Holiday tasting:

Presumably this is the pinnacle in terms of what can be done with the native American variety Norton. Note to self: Don’t buy Norton. Peppery nose reminiscent of a Southern Rhone, but the similarity ends there. Spritzy on the palate, and fairly unpleasant.

Eric, sorry to hear about the Chrysalis. Their Viognier was a nice quaffer when I tried it a while back.

It's not the best, not even close. When it's done best it tends to be meaty and unusual. I like it, but it takes some getting used to.

BTW, the best Norton's that I have tasted are from Missouri.
