From magnum. Decanted ~ 1 hour, drunk over the following two hours. Deep ruby red/garnet colour with tinges of purple. Thick slow legs. Aromas of licorice, raspberry, slight vegetal notes, dark crushed fruit, and oak. Full-bodied with dark crushed fruit, espresso, and present tannins. Long, lingering finish with caramel and espresso notes coming through, approximately 40-45 seconds in length. I can't believe this is an Ontario wine. Best VQA I've ever had. Charles Pillitteri said that this is the finest wine they have ever made, and I tend to agree. Would really shine with a couple more years in the cellar. 600 magnums produced. 88 points (11/01/2003).
