| 14% alcohol. $13.
Light ruby red color (could easily be mistaken for a cheap Burgundy) with fresh bright aromas of bread dough, strawberry, and kiwi. Fruity and fun on the palate with adequate acidity and just a touch of excess alcohol peaking through. Exactly what one looks for in a Rose. Drink before the end of 2003. 88 points.

| Jones, What grape is this? And is it free run or second press juice? | | | |

| Syrah, mourvedre, grenache and a touch of pinot noir was fermented in older French oak barrels to make the wine. I believe Ojai practices saignee and that the excess liquid is turned into rose. | | | |

| Tried the Ojai Vin Gris tonight. Fairly lush for a rose. You can definitely sense the pinot noir on the nose. Lively fruit and acidity. Nice wine. 87 pts. I paid $13.99.
BTW, I had this with a pepperoni pizza. Not a great match. What would be a better pairing with a wine like this. My first thought is a red snapper or grouper.

| Not ever having the wine I would need try to match the acidity first. I'm guessing it had a good grip.
I would imagine that Fish with a hollandais would be perfect.

| With rose, the easiest matches are provencal cuisine. Fennel, tapenade, onion pissaladiere, grilled fish with aioli, etc. Roses taste better when consumed outside preferably in the sun.
I would think the pepperonis would have killed this wine and made it taste excessively alcoholic.

| Killed might be a bit much. It certainly did it no favors. They were fairly mild for pepperoni.
It was certainly better on it's own, but the wine was very enjoyable. Thanks.
