An initial sulfurous hit on the bouquet which quickly disappeared. This product of Dr. Konstantin Frank had a slight (though not unpleasant) flintiness, mild acidity, with apple and pear, a modest mouthfeel and a decently lengthed finish. A little higher on the alcohol scale than many rieslings (11.5%). $16. Basically a decent bottle of wine and my first foray into upper New york in a while. 85

I enjoyed 4-5 bottles of this over the last year or so and agree with your assessment. There is another though smaller production NY reisling that if you can find is actually very enjoyable........the Red Newt. I would peg the Red Newt 2001 Reisling at 87-88 points and one of the better white wines out of NY state.
