| This was a thoughtful gift brought back by my Mother on a recent visit to VA. 13.2% Alc., cost unknown, the 2000 Breaux (pronounced Bro) Seyval Blanc is a clear pale hay in color, with a good nose that is somewhat reminiscent of a Muscadet. Dominant aromas are citrus and earth, with some fig and melon lingering subtly behind. On the palate this wine is surprisingly creamy, leading me to believe this must have undergone full malolactic fermentation, yet with a crisp, dry backbone. Somewhat earthy, yet showing nice fruit and quite high acidity with a short finish. Certainly a decent wine and a pleasant surprise. 83 points, drink now. | | | 2008: the end of an error |
