| Tasted at the Denver offline with WIML on 5/12/03.
Served double blind with the desserts. The desserts served were chocolate-hazelnut truffle tarts with raspberry coulis and whipped cream, and grilled pears with gorgonzola dolce and reduced riesling sauce.
Needless to say, none of the tasters guessed where this wine was produced. This one tasted like a cross between a dessert wine and cognac. Very citrusy, notably apricots on the palate, with just a bit of honeysuckle. According to the label, this bottling had 9% RS. Surprisingly good, though I do not think it matched particularly well with the desserts.
So now, I have had a good dessert wine from Kansas, to join the Ohio one I had in Victorville. What to try next? | | |
