next visit was pellegrini. i have always found they made good to very good wines at a decent price point.

2004 pellegrini chardonnay
2002 pellegrini cabernet franc
2001 pellegrini vitners pride merlot
2001 pellegrini vitners pride cabernet sauvignon
2001 pellegrini vitners pride encore

the chardonnay was pretty good and a nice value in the low teens. the 2002 cabernet franc is a very good wine and an excellent value at $20. with a purchase of three bottles you then receive a 5% discount or 10% on a mixed case. the vitners pride wines were very good, but not quite up to the quality of paumanok.

When I was ITB and sold Pellegrini I got to taste the wines a lot. Twice I made the long drive out to the Island to taste at the winery, which made for a very long day of bumpa to bumpa traffic on the ride home.

Tasting chardonnay component barrels was very interesting. Aussie wienmaker Russel Hearn does a good job there.

The merlot is also recomended and the cab frac is indeed a very good wine.

I once brown bagged the wines and blind tasted wine merchants and restaurant buyers on the wines. Nobody had a clue about the true origin, and were very suprised when the bags were removed.
