| We always visit this winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake, but not just for the average wines. It's out in the country a ways in a pretty area and near another winery we like. The winery also has a nice, though small, gift shop. We visited three weeks ago. The wines:
2002 Unoaked Chardonnay, 12.5% alcohol, $10.60-
Light pear nose. Simple. 78
2004 Pinot Noir, 12% alcohol, $11.60-
Cherry nose. Light. Ready. 80
2004 Late Harvest Gewurtztraminer, 13% alcohol, $15- Perfumed nose. Light sweetness. Rough. 78
2002 Late Harvest Riesling, 12.5% alcohol, $13.25- Nose closed. Light sweetness. OK. 83
2001 Select Late Harvest Riesling, 10.5% alcohol, $25- Honey nose. Sweet and balanced. Lighter than ice wine. Excellent. 91
2001 Specila Select Late Harvest Gewurtztraminer, 11.5% alcohol, (200 ml) $37-
Dried fruit nose. Light botrytis flavor. 85
2002 Vidal Icewine, 10.5% alcohol, $44.45-
Honey creamsicle nose. Well-balanced. Excellent. 90
2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Icewine, 10.5% alcohol, (200 ml) $37- No nose at all. Nice balance. Berry flavors. 91 | | | |
